Wooooohooooo turned to booooooohooooooooo this morning; got a call from my last residence to say there was post (some going back a few months). There was an invite for my son to be a mascot at the Bradford reserve game last month, I'm absolutely gutted.

I've just spoken to a lovely lass called Megan who changed my details at NUFC and said she would try and repeat the offer next season. Back on a high.

I'm going to the Jube in Walker tonight for a talk in with the one and only Peter Beardsley.

Talksport hosted the Talk-in on Thursday with Fatman Parry doing the instigating and Alan Brazil as advocate. Parry claimed that Geordies were losers because two years running we played in the FA Cup final and came away with nothing but smiling faces. He said the crowds we attract and the monopoly of football that NUFC has in the city should mean that we a top-top side with a trophy cabinet to match the interest the club has and until we demand success we shall win nought.

Peter Beardsley defended our corner by saying that foreign stars saw Newcastle as somewhere that was difficult to reach, an obstacle that Champions League football would hopefully attenuate.

Now that Parry had the secured the loathing of the geordie faithful he argued that Shearer should reverse his decision and go to the World Cup, if he doesn't he is turning his back on the nation and we are just as bad for agreeing with his choice. Basically he was a wind up but his first point is something that Buff recognised a couple of seasons ago. Now it appears that attitudes are changing, it maybe the wave of nouveau fans that voted with their feet at the Fulham match by booing the team off the pitch but I got the impression that the crowd were not going to accept another season without reward ie Champions League.

Parry's point is utterly meaningless. We can "demand" success till the boat comes in but no club has a divine right to win anything. A monopoly on football in a smallish city like Newcastle is an utterly laughable point and totally devoid of logic. We compete in England, not Newcastle. Has he heard of Manchester Utd I wonder this Parry half-wit? The richest club side in any sport in the world Might they be "demanding" something? Or has he heard of the mega wealth of clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea with their high rolling fans (not that they're smart - just that enjoy living next to one of the World's most important financial centres constantly sucking the best talent from our region to keep the damn thing running). Give me a platform with Parry and I'll wipe the floor with him if he wants to make stupid points like that.

We've always been a bit shaky defending corners haven't we? (To be fair)

fans that voted with their feet at the Fulham match by booing the team off the pitch

I think this is what's known as a "mexed mitaphore". I don't know anyone who boos with their feet. :-)
