Training Toy Poodle

Hi all,

I recently received an apricot male poodle. He is now 15 weeks old. He came to me slightly potty trained. I keep his Pee Wee pad in the kitchen. He seems to know that that is where he has to go. However every time I think that he is finally trained, he surprises me by going somewhere else, like on my carpet. He seems to go on the Pee wee pad about 75% of the time. Is it too soon for me to expect him to be fully trained? I've had him for about four weeks now.

Also, I keep hearing that poodle are one of the smartest dogs. Though, I love him very much, he does not seem too bright. Is it because he is still young? Am I being impatient?

Hi! I have a 3 yr old toy poodle named Daisy. Daisy was extremely easy to train even though I had no previous experience house breaking a dog. Crate-training worked wonderfully for us. I did not like the potty pads for the same reason-I felt like she just couldn't "get it." Dogs will not "go" in their crate. We only had to use it for a couple of months and there haven't been any accidents since!
