Southampton Ticket Sought

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I just got my Dear John envelope. Applied day one and the bastards couldn't find me a ticket. That's twice this season. So much for having a ST. So, does anyone have a spare? I realise that there'll be a queue forming, but I was SOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to going, it being 60 miles from home, compared to my standard 600 mile round trip to SJP. Go on, gis a ticket, please.

60 miles? I'm 7 miles away and can't even get a home end ticket. Really hacked off.We plan to hire a cherry-picker and park it outside the ground with a few of us in the basket ;-))

That's not a bad idea Geordie...would it work? would you be able to see into the ground in one of them?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

dunno ... I'm sure the local constabulary would have something to say about it though!

We could pose as floodlight repair men

No news for me yet Terry. I think we'll be making the trip with or without ticket. In my experience the match has always got in the way of a good day out when it comes to playing Southampton.

sounds like I need to get my bbq out ready for you all!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

And don't forget mum everyone...she's been asking for these tickets for a year now!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Thanks Gav! You wouldn`t think it would be so difficult for such a distant fixture would you?(:o(

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Notice on the Official site saying that there are no sales to the general public due to the issue being oversubscribed - rats!!! Are we televised?(:o(

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Nope we aren't on the telly...

Gal, I reckon the best thing to do is arrange a get together with everyone who's heading down...those with and without tickets! those who have can go into the ground and those who haven't can enjoy the pub while the match is on and then start off with everyone again afterwards....it'll be well worth it even if you don't get in!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

You could be right Gav, that well may be the way to go! (:o)

Are you sure you can`t get that weekend off?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Looks like i'll be travelling without a ticket n'all.

Soz Galaxy - no joy from my contacts.

;-)

Galaxy, have you got webcast, so we can all huddle together and swear in unison? I reckon burger, beer, and those two buggers from Metro could lead to an entertaining day out. That, and Al going top scorer for the season with 2 minutes remaining. (Sorry, being presumtious, inviting myself down like that)

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Hey...presume away....everyone is welcome! Just give `us an idea of how many are coming and I will purchase the appropriate refreshments and victuals. (:o)

I did moot the idea of an end of term booze up a few weeks ago. (:o)

I just called the ticket office, our lot have had 7 rejections out of 24 applications, so no spares I'm afraid guys. In fact, if anyone does manage to get their paws on any......

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Didn't get any either. :-((

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Blimey! Has anyone managed to get tickets?

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

I've just been offered a seat in the home end by a Southampton ST holder. Do I take it, go to the game, and sit quitley for two hours, or politely decline and listen on the web? I want to go, but I HATE sitting in the wrong end. I've got to let him know by Sunday. What's it like there. Will their lot get excited if I get excited? Ooer, decisions, decisions.

-- Anonymous, May 04, 2002

I've only been in the wrong end twice - SILENCE! - Right that's detention for the lot of you!.

I've only been in with the home fans twice (never at Southampton) and it's grim. But there is the crack in the pubs before and after the game, which remains unchanged, and is often the best bit (especially at Southampton!) If you're going to meet people there then it's probably well worth sitting on your hands for 90 minutes. If we manage to win 5-0 I assume no liability for your blood pressure...

get yerself doon man! Southampton stewards WILL turf you out if they think you are supporting the lads. They even print "Home supporters only" on their tickets.

I've managed to get a spare in the Saints end sitting with a group of schoolkids from Devon! (don't ask ;-(( ). Anyho.... BEER

Well, from the (admittedly low) sample of responses on here, there'll probably be as many Toon fans in the home end as Saints. And what's more, from the sound of things, there might be a spare place or two in Geordie's cherry picker. Just divven't choose the wrong end ;-)

Reminds me of me and wor lass going to Elland Road, of all places, a few seasons back on 'prawn sarnie tix' - actually in the Directors Box. We won, either 1-0 or 2-1, can't quite recall.

I had the same concerns before the game about whether I would be able to contain myself if/when we scored. Anyway, I was managing with difficulty to contain myself as the game progressed - with enormous difficulty.

Then it happened - we scored. I bubbled and fizzed internally, but held it inside magnificently. However, to my horror wor lass - who had only been to a couple of games since the 70's - leapt into the air like a salmon, arms aloft shouting "yyyyeeeeeeeeeeeesssss!! ". It seemed like the entire stadium stopped and glared at us - and indeed continued muttering at us during the rest of the game.

That's just about the reaction I got when sitting in the home stand at WHam once. My first ever live PL match, actually. Only it was because I stayed in my seat looking less than pleased when WHam scored and everyone around was jumping around like loons. I stood up and tried to look interested. Ugh! Then the barstewards scored again. Not fun, but at least I was there and the pre/post match craic was well worth it.

Has ANYBODY actually got proper tickets for this game??

-- Anonymous, May 04, 2002

One or two Southampton fans apparently.
