Re-Chroming

I have seen services to repaint black cameras but has anyone restored the chrome on any of their classics? If so where did you get it done and were you happy with the results? Thanks

try www.artisanplating.com. i saw a rhodium plated m3 several years agao at a camera show in waltham, mass. looked very nice. you need to remove all of the outer body parts from the camera, remove any vulcanite, etc. the actual plating process is very straightforward. good luck. p.s. the cost is about $300 for a complete replate. needless to say, however, the finish will not match the original brushed chrome finish, but it's very cool nonetheless. i have never seen anyone replicate leica's satin chrome finish with any high degree of success. not sure why . . . .
