Murrel mushrooms...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Anyone looking for murrels?? We found some last week, the small gray ones. Then over the weekend, Lindsey, and a friend went and found a bunch of the big creamy ones, and Cale and Brady found some yesterday. We have found about 100 so far. For supper Saturday night I stir fried a pan full with onions and a little butter and some garlic and pepper!! Awesome...

Hello Melissa, I occasionally find Morels around here. The way we like them is to dip them in batter and fry them up. We cook them this way and serve them with eggs at breakfast.

Sincerely, Ernest

We have been looking but so far we haven't found any in our usual spots-------we always hunt with an open mesh bag---to spread those spores to keep them comming back---& we don't disturb the ground where we pick them----but maybe it has been tooooooo dry this year--- I don't know so far no luck!!!

Melissa,

Leftover morels, how can that happen? I don't think that will ever happen here. They are eaten until gone, never any leftovers. LOL They are so good, too bad the season isn't much longer. But I guess if they were available more of the time the treat would not be so exquisite.

Talk to you later.
