What's for Supper?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Hi there everyone! After a weekend of quick meals we are all in the mood for some "REAL" food!! I am going to bake a ham, mashed potatoes with garlic and sour cream, oatmeal dinner rolls, corn on the cob, and cherry soup for dessert. I will make orange spice iced tea to drink.

For the mashed potatoes I peel and chop the potatoes, peel and chop a bulb or two of garlic, and cook it all together. Drain and mash garlic and all. When I mash I use sour cream and just a little milk, salt and coarse ground pepper. These are very good with the garlic. I use fat-free sour cream, so they are good for you too!!

What's for supper at your house???

Chicken parts with homemade noodles. We're getting lots and lots of little eggs now. Think I'll try you garlic mashed potatoes, corn and probably broccoli.

I went big for Sunday dinner for my Mom and myself. We had grilled chicken breasts AND grilled filets with baked potatoes, cottage cheese and iced tea. Amazing what a guy can do with a nice grille and a microwave. ;o)

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes (may have to put some of that garlic in, it sounds good!), green beans and salad, with homemade bread. I'm going to try to bake some cookies and have cookies with ice cream for dessert.

I'm hungry already! I love meatloaf!

We roasted a rooster on Friday night (did it with 100 cloves of garlic) and the gravy from this is just the best, so we'll probably make biscuits and gravy, and roasted sweet potatoes, and the kale is up.

Last night was simple and fabulous - baked potatoes with broccoli, red peppers (3 for $1!) and horseradish cheese sauce. Mmm

I have a chicken thawing so am planning on fixing fried chicken, boiled potatoes, green beans and yogurt for dessert. My husband had a hunger for some fried chicken. Usually I bake it or roast it whole. This will be a nice change.
