So where are we going to get this point from?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'm hoping we might not need it....blackburn aren't that bad a team and they are desperate, West Ham are on fire at the moment and I won't easily forget how they taught us a footballing lesson at the beginning of the season for me......that leaves Southampton for me, too nerve wracking! I sincerely hope chelsea cock up before then....

So come on.....place your bets....where are we gonna get the point we need...or not?

A Point please....

Blackburn ARE that bad,and don't really need it anymore

West Ham have 16 points from a possible 51 away from home, they only looked sparkling cos they were playing Sunderland

Southampton average a goal a game at home

Can't see any of these lot stopping us from winning.

As for Chelsea ...Boro will be eager to show them ... a draw, and Villa will play hard to get, another draw, we'll be 10 points clear of them at the end of the season.

Gav, just buy half pints rather than having a half empty pint glass ?

you didn't answer the question Mac...where is the point going to come in your opinion?

Blackburn have won 2, drawn 1 in their last 3 home outings....they are 1 place below newcastle on last 6 games form....West Ham are actually above us in the last 6 games form guide so I'll stick by my opinion that both teams should be of some concern to us if you don't mind...

Oh and my pint is full at the moment, i'm over the moon with the way results have gone at the weekend! I'm just a little nervous about this final point...I agree that we might not need it but i'd rather we got it than relied on chelsea doing us anymore favours....

Gav - I can tell you like to make yourself suffer, and you know very well that nothing we say to you will make you feel any more relaxed about this final point.

So I'll just gently slide your glass towards the very edge of the table and watch you sweat, by pointing out that Andy Cole plays for Blackburn. He never scores against us does he?

We'll get it tomorrow Gav. Probably even get all three but by the time we get back to SJP for the final game, we will be in the CL qualifiers.

Thank you for a straight answer screach :) and cheers for giving me something to be a bit more nervous about Jonno :)))

Have to wait till Saturday IMO.

Mind, being the clever sh1te I am, I'm taking advantage of the precise wording of the original post and not ruling out the possibilities of 3 points at Blackburn, and three at Soton.

Sorry Gav, but you know what these assoles from Washington are like. :-{E}

Saturday.

I think we've too much for Blackburn in every department. And Al will be on a real high after last Saturday, so what better way to celebrate than a couple at your old club.

3 points tomorrow.

I don't think we will get it. Blackburn need the points for safety and I think we will succumb. That leaves the pressure of having to get a point from W.Ham so we don't have to get it from Southampton. We'll blow it. Then it's down to Saint Mary's where a certain Matthew Le Tissier will be playing his last game...

I'm as nervous as anything. Can't imagine what I'd be like if it was one point from 3 games for the title :-((

... fortunately for us, Chelsea will draw at 'boro

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

So it isn't just me then Geordie! :) I think we'll get it from Soton...after we've all had a number of heart attacks...

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

We'll get the point on Tuesday. Relax everyone.

Whos worried about matt le tiss playing his lasst game , a certain s pearce played his last game sat , guess who missed a pen??

Needing to get a point at Southampton would be the worst possible scenario Gav! Please, please, please......get it before then! In fact, I think we are going to win the remainder of our games - so no worries! (:o)

BTW Gav - will you be down for the Southampton match? And, if anyone comes across my `plea for Southampton tickets` thread, can they bump it to the top please. (:o)

Got no more free weekend between now and the end of the season mum so I won't be down for it....shame cos it's one of my fave trips :)

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

I`m sorry to hear that Gav - you`ll be missed.(:o)

A point should do it for Blackburn. A point will do it for us. Nuff said...I'm of to the bookies

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

I think we'll draw tomorrow. Can't see us winning because Blackburn are too desperate for points, we'll score first, possibly even 2 goals, but then we'll relax cause Blackburn aren't really that good, then they'll equalize. I don't think we'll lose all 3 of our matches. We can win any or all of them, but I'm pretty optimistic we'll at least manage 1 point somewhere along the way. Preferably not waiting until Soton!!

There's more chance of us making 3rd than of us not making 4th ;-) In fact there's still a chance we can win the Premiership..

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

There's still a chance one of us will win the lottery too. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

No chance at all of me winning the Lottery - I don't play ;-)

But are the chances of Chelsea winning their two games, and us losing all three of ours really much greater than us winning all three of ours and ManU managing just two draws and a loss from their remainder?

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

IMO....yes. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

Tomorrow. A draw isn't beyond us. Now I've said that we'll cock it up of course.

The Spectre of S'Ton will keep me awake till we're safe...:(

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

I'm really expecting us to be celebrating at Ewood Park tomorrow. Nuff said?

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

A win in ALL three games. After a win against Blackburn we play with zero pressure for the rest of the season, playing exhibition stuff, putting eleven past Roeder's Retards (sorry about that one, can't think of any words beginning with R's) and finally a first win in Southampton for donkey's years.

Either that or we'll fall apart and get stuffed, only to sneak in after Zola scores an own goal on the last day of the season to hand us the place.

If we scrape at least a point tomorrow I'm sure we'll win the remaining games, but if we don't ...
