Whose going to Blackburn?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I am, since it's kind of just up the road. Who else will be joining me and more importantly - where will you be drinking before hand? It's terrible for pubs in Blackburn - they closed down my last drinking haunt and I don't know if there are any more that accept away fans. Anyone know?

I know Screach is going Lynda. Received his ticket yesterday. Just look out for a Toon fan doing back flips up the road and introduce yourself.

I need to check out people's pictures on here again in case I bump into anyone. Blackburn is a small place after all.

Screacher, I can barely remember if I sent you a text message last night but I think I did (was well on my way to being pissed). Anyway I have got you a second ticket and I am picking it up on Tuesday lunchtime just before we leave for Blackburn, so I will have to meet you at the turnstile to hand it over.

Just to let everyone else know that it is horrendous getting into pubs in Blackburn. The 'away fans pub' outside the ground (The Fernhurst) has been turned into a Thai restaurant so you can rule that one out! Other pubs in the vicinity have big bruisers on the door to refuse away fans entry. Most chartered Toon buses are making there way to Clitheroe, at least 7 buses (350 fans) that I know of. Difficult I know, if you are travelling by car and want to get parked near the ground as early as possible.

Hope this helps!

I'm going - I actually bought a car park pass with me tickets in the Jack Walker Stand. It'll take me an age to get out, I know, but it's very handy as I'll be arriving at the last minute. Don't know about pubs - the Fernhurst was the only one I knew about.

Well, it looks as if my cover has been blown. Yeah, I'll be there, along with Clarky.

Mungo - I got your text message - it would appear I was only a few drinks behind you :)

As for pubs to drink in (a stupid remark really - what else (apart from going for a Jimmy?): The Fernhurst is the only one I've been to. I guess Jacko will be coming up the M6 and turning right onto the M67 (?). Not many pubs on that route to meet in (tho with a car park ticket, I doubt she'd want to anyway). Lynda - it would be good meeting up after all these months of missing each other. Do you know anywhere south of B'burn which is a convenient watering hole?

To be honest, I dunno which route to take - I could come doon the A1 etc and cut over on the M62 or I could scare the living daylights oot o' Clarky and dodge the sheep over Hartside and down the M6 to B'burn that way. Hmmm.

BTW - my seat is in the Darwen End Upper Tier, colour "orange" row 14 seat 38. Clarky's is in Mungo's pocket :-) I guess there may well be quite a few empty seats as not everyone who bought one for the original fixture will be able to go (hence wor 2 tickets).

From the Blackburn website:

"There are many public houses in the vicinity of Ewood Park, The Ewood Arms, The Aquaduct, The Moorings, Angel, Brown Cow and the Waters Edge are all within easy walking distance of the ground."

Don't know if they are away fan friendly. There's also one called the Fox and Hounds which is just over the road from the ground and has all sorts of footie posters and pictures up in it.

I'll be down at Ewood park, so long as I can get a car that is servicable....after some twat drove into mine whilst parked up, and then doing a runner....leaving me with a rather large insurance bill...cause the other party wasn't insured ,and old bill still hunting him/them down...bastards! Oh yeah...DARWEN END UPPER TIER, (orange) row15, seat 32 & 33..look for the NUFC cap!...:-))

Clarky, be sure to wear comfortable hiking boots. Screach likes to park in the 4000 hills of Blackburn Lancashire. ;-)
