Didn't you smell him ? That sickening sweet smell--like withering honeysuckle ? Let your rooster free range ! He is the only repellent I know of. Boots and snake leggings are somewhat effective but NOISE is your best bet. Trust your senses--use your ears and nose. The rattler will warn you and the copperhead can be smelled 15 feet away.

I use a chainsaw to run them out of my area by letting it run on the ground at various times of the day. The vibrations keep them on the move.

I read somewhere that cats are a good snake deterrent. Have you got any kitties?

I have heard that Tom cat urine is a good deterrant and if you have Tom cats running around that may help.

Also, this is not very "natural" but I keep mothballs on the ground about two inches apart all around my bunny barn. I make sure they are no where that the bunnies can get a hold of them and no where that the chickens can eat them!

But there is supposed to be the same thing in moth balls as there is in the high price snake repellant you can get at the co-op.

I also try to keep everything mowed and weed-eated where we will be working a lot so at least we can see them and they can't sneak up on us!

We have developed a very effective "herbal snake repellent" which is under patenting. It is vey easy to use. Found to give excellent results at least for 2months, by one application.

I've always heard and used the mothballs also. Right now, here in North Carolina the snakes are really bad. I would like a suggestion on something to use to repel them away from my property. Does anyone sell a snake repellant that really works?
