Twice as good as the mackems?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I haven't looked at this in any great detail so sorry if my calculations are wrong. But I think that if we win our remaining 3 games and the mackems loose theirs then we finish the season with double the amount of points of the mackems.

We have already scored more goals away from home than the makems have in total. We have scored more goals at home than the smogs have in total. So we have scored more goals than the makems and smogs put together!

It would be nice to have double the points.

What makes it even sweeter is the size of the gap. The last two seasons saw us finish quite a bit behind them, but only 6 points difference - this is basically the difference between us and Chelsea, and it could be less considering we have a game in hand over them.

Almost the same goal difference - Toon +22, Mackerms -22!

"Twice as good as the Mackems" ???

No it doesn't compute - can you explain what is meant by this? I'm confused by the use of the words "good" and "Mackems" in the same sentence ...

Arrogance-is it back to stay?

Nice to see some of you reverting to type.

And relax...........................

-- Anonymous, April 21, 2002

You can't relax yet SK, Ipswich have a game in hand

-- Anonymous, April 21, 2002

Haway man SK - as piss takes go this was extremely mild! And we were talking about you not to you!

-- Anonymous, April 21, 2002

Paul

I'm sure that when SK said relax he meant don't worry we are sure to get the CL place no more worries on that score....I reckon he is really a closet black and white supporter. Just uses the SOL lot to satisfy sadomasochistic tendencies.

SK - Once again you demonstrate your ignorance of the language. The word is arrogance and I have explained it to you before so your memory's not too clever either.

Arrogance is to make undue claims, to claim too much. A glance at the league table (or don't you bother any more - understandable I suppose) will indicate to you that nobody here has made any undue claims at all. NUFC is miles ahead of Sunderland in the league - end of story. If anything, looking at this entire BBS, you will find this issue grossly underplayed, ie the EXACT OPPOSITE of arrogance.

Now run away and play son.

Run away and play son?

Who the fuck are you to try and patronise me like that?

You seem to have developed some sort of delusionary siuation whereby everything you say is correct and contains a higher degree of intelligence than other contributions-especially Mackems.

Well quite simply you come across as a tit!

People on here are generally ok,down to earth sorts, some even seem to be absolutely sound,Clarky for example, but you are out there on your own mate.

Get out your dictionary, check this missive for typos etc, then patronise me using large words-I'm really not expecting anything else.

And son? Fucking son? If I was your son............................

Good to see ye back on here SK.

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

Tut, tut SK. Such obvious bait to take. I expect better from you by now :)

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

LOL

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

Thats for the welcome Syme.

And taking the bait? Who bit 1st? Jonno responded to my accusation of arrogance. And I was not fishing. Just how I see it.

-- Anonymous, April 22, 2002

you are out there on your own mate.

Awwww shucks - thanks.

The arrogance of the last two years was Sunderland fans believeing that twice finishing 7th made them a reasonable Premership side.

People tried to tell them, but no, such sentiments, even from people who had watched so much more Premership (and European) football, was just viewed as sour grapes.

Well as a self-confessed downtrodden pessimist I can hardly be labelled with that can I?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

It's always the way though mate....you lord it up when you're ahead and get kicked when you're down....it's our turn again at the minute but doubtless you'll have a chance for revenge at some point....hopefully not anytime soon though :)

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Lord it up eh?

Imagine if sunderland were 12 points clear at the top of the league( 1st division obviously)and there was only one game left. I would be the one expecting us to finish 2nd or 3rd. Lifelong support of Sunderland does that to a blerk.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Haha you sound like me! I'm the one who's busy predicting that we might not get the point we need in the 3 games we have left....we haven't exactly out acheived you by a huge margin...europe excepted ;))

SK, decided on where you're gannin this summer?? I was privy to a bunch of lads from Glasgow out on a stag night over the weekend, needless to say not all of them made their return flight back to scotland.

I am off to a charming little coastal town in the balerics on June 1st. It goes by the name of Magaluf! Then on July 22nd I am off to the balerics again to ,err, magaluf again. 2 different stag dos-12 on the 1st,20 on the second and me the only red and white on both! Later I think some of us from the local are having a piss up in Amsterdam courtesy of the ferry from North shields. Therefore it is extremely unlikely that I will get stateside this year.

You'll have to wait to pour that pint over my head. Sorry.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2002

Can't blame ye. I am sure I can find a token makem to pour one over. I have a feeling that it's going to be Englands first WC game, since it's being shown live over here at 4am. The bar will be open by invitation only so it should be one helluva night. Magaluf is a right laff though, it was when I was there 13 years ago.
