Hey, my apex 703, plays vcd/svcd/mp3cd all fine, every cd I use. It also plays old DVDS that are silver bottoms. But it can't play new dvds with goldish/silverish bottoms like Mummy Returns or anything with a goldish bottom that is a retail DVD. Anyone have this problem or know where I can go to fix it?

A goldish retail DVD means that particular DVD is dual-layer. ALL DVD- drives, set-tops and DVD-ROMs, are designed to cope with this, and if your Apex does not then it's defective.

I had an apex that did the same thing. Played most of my vcds but not dvds from blockbuster. eventually it quit playing everything so i took it back and exchanged it for a new 1 and the new worked fine
