M6 shutter & Hole

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hello to every member of this great forum.

A very small hole appeared in the shutter of my 18 months old M6 TTL.

Since I a cautious not to expose the camera to the sun, so I doubt that this hole may be caused by a sun burn.

Has anybody experienced the same problem ?

I am a little bit concerned about this, since my dealer told me that such damage could not be covered by the (French) warranty.

Thank you for your thoughts (and forgive my English, which is far from perfect...).

Regards

Eric

certainly not a common problem. if the hole is centered on the shutter it is, most likely, sun burn. if not, and if the camera is still under some kind of warranty (obviously the french distributor does not offer "passport" type warranty, i am shocked that it is not covered, as it woud appear to be a manufacturing/materials defect. i would take your complaint to the distributor. as for the sun burning holes in leica cloth shutters, remember that you can largely avoid the trouble by not leaving your camera focused to infinity.

A small dab of laquer paint should fix it.

Eric> Be very very careful with the "mending" of the hole. I once damage the shutter by over doing it.
