Is Alan's Proboscis still aching?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I heard that the lads were going to watch the Chelsea game together so the morale should be sky-high, and the crowd should be ready for action too

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Webcast isn't working for me yet @ 2.20

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Are we going to go with this thread or use the one Screacher started earlier?

I have webcast BTW.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Just back after my computer crashed. argh. Webcast is working fine with me. I didn't see another match thread, so started this one. Doesn't matter to me which we use...just tell what the other one is. I'm still groggy from the meds I had to take for my back, so not feeling terribly observant this morning. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Is there any news of the line-up, yet? Metro Idiot seems to think we can all see his team sheet as he has yet to give the line-up. Just read out all the subs, though. Tosser!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Subs: Harper, Dabs, Bellamy, Bernard....errr, can't remember the other one.

Elliot at LB, Distin in the middle with O'B. Lx3 up front.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Shearer is starting. I think the midfield is Solano, Dyer, Speed, Robert.

I suppose it's quite difficult to read 11 names off a piece of paper in one shot.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Might as well stay here. Is there anyone else about? Surely we're not the only ones listening to MetroClown?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Evening Ciara, let's hope that this evening is better than last night

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

OK. Two threads on the go, which one are we using??

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

hey there, Steve. Looks like everyone else is off raiding their fridges/the bar before ko. Might actually go toast a couple waffles for myself. Maybe the sugar will wake me up.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Ahh...more troops. What other thread??? Why am I not seeing it?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Other sub is Jenas

Shay Given 24 Sylvain Distin 3 Robbie Elliott 18 Aaron Hughes 5 Andrew O'Brien 8 Kieron Dyer 32 Laurent Robert 4 Nolberto Solano 11 Gary Speed 20 Lomana Tresor Lua-Lua 9 Alan Shearer

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Yooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooo

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Gotta go match is starting on telly

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Kegsy, you'll never get a job doing the Metro broadcast that way. Far too much information. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

It's the "Ashington's finest" thread (referring no doubt to Bobby and Jackie CHARLTON :-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Let's all just stay on here. I don't like Ashington anyway...:)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Looks like this is the place to be. Hello everyone from sunny Calgary. Long time no see. How is everybody doing these days??

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Not sure I understand why Elliott is starting instead of Bernard.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Disappointed that Elliot is at l-b, him on Robert don't exactly click,

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

We're off. OOOH Shearer just misses...

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I think we're all OK thanks Pete. Well, Ciara seems to be high on painkillers but apart from that...

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Seems like we have started better than last week

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Webcast breaking up now (what a surprise). Is there a Charlton one going somewhere?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

We need to score early and score often.

I really don't understand the appeal of recreational painkillers. It's really not fun to go around groggy like this. :-P

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Oh...there likely is a Charlton webcast on their official site. Metro is still ok for me, so I haven't gone searching yet

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Evening all. Pitch looks in good nick. Lets hope for a good result.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I'm now on www.charlton-athletic.co.uk

Too soon to say whether the commentary will be any good but it's a good quality connection.

Why is .cock so UTTERLY shite?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Amazing isn't it? I almost think they purposely try to be the most sh*te site

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Mick Martin starting to take the p*ss out of Metro Moron.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

It's not hard though is it?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Taking candy from a baby would be more of a challenge. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Cmon lads, lets make this possession count!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Speeed!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

1-0 Speeeeeeeeeeedd

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Ask and ye shall receive!! SPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

ha - beat ya

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I just tried Metro again and it still sound like hiccups.

GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPEED!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Another 3 or 4 goals and we should be able to safely say we've got the 3 points. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Typical Newcastle, we score a goal and a minute layter they get a corner

Why can we not concentrate?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

This Metro guy is one of those you could teach foreign swear words, tell him it's paying someone a high compliment, then enjoy watching him get beat up after he uses his new words to sweet talk someone.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Only 15 more goals needed and we'll be far enough ahead of Chelsea on GD even if we lose the last 3 games.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

The sad thing is that next year, thousands of people are going to be interested in Newcastle coz of the CL (or UEFA, won't tempt fate).

They'll find dot cock. What an embarrassment.

I don't understand the crappy webcasts though. Do they have a naff server or what? I'm not very technically-minded and don't know how these things work.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

We can score 15 today...CMON LADS!!! WORK!!!!!! :-D

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Another absolute crap webcast, I see. You'd think they might be able to figure this out eventually.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I don't really know anything about the technical end of webcasting, but if every other team seems to be able to put out a quality broadcast, I'd say there's got to be something those in charge of ours are doing wrong. Or maybe the club have to pay an extra fee for higher quality? In that case we're well f*cked.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

west ham have 1 over the SMB

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Oh and HI all ;o) Ive been lurking and forgot I havnt said nowt yet. Florida is sunny, hot and its gonna get up to the high 80's today. Sounds like Consett!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

A relative of mine does the webcast for third division Oxford United and I listen quite frequently. Invariably the webcasts are crystal clear and I can never remember interference or interruption. Charlton's today is excellent.

There is simply no excuse for it.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Right, I'm over to Charlton. Metro started breaking up too much. Not much crowd noise being picked up by Charlton's mics, but at least I'll know what's going on.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Oh no lost pics....Ahh back again

Crowd very subdued. I'm sure I can hear the Chronicle seller on Northumberland St !!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Hi all! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Television must be cutting out crowd noise as well. Toon Army's been pretty lively today. Well, compared to many home matches. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Free kick in dodgy poss....comes to nowt

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

God this webcast drives me mad! (:o| Does anyone remember the comedian who used to pretend to be on a faulty mike at a working mans club? Well that`s what this fluppin` webcast is like.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

G'day all from sunny France. Howay the lads.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Amazing. I can actually hear the tannoy better on Charlton's webcast than when I'm at SJP sitting in my own seat.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Switched over to Charlton, much better apart from the exceptionally dodgy accents.

ANy one know who Nooooocastle are?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

How come the adverts come over loud and clear without breaking up?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

It's quite interesting that metro commenattors talk about 'we' when referring to Newcastle and the Charlton commentators say 'they' when referring to Charlton

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

H-T Nothing flashy but 1-0 up so no complaints. Defence a little shakey but Charlton look pretty poor.Like to see us run at them a bit more.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

The quality of the reception and the commentary on the Charlton web site puts the Metro to shame.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

G'day all. Just looking in. You have the advantage not being able to pick up Lockwood, believe me. I can get him on the radio (possibly the webcast problem is that the Makems have got the FM Metro transmission and we've been relegated to the crappy AM alternative), but I listened around the time the goal went in, couldn't tell whether or not Charlton immediately scored an equaliser from a corner, and decided just to read this thread instead.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Errree we go.....

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

The BBC sports site is saying the 1-0 is a result? (I'm away on a course deep in the forests of Washington State and can not get any sound on the computer I have access to.)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

LUALUALUALUALUALUALUALUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Fantastic celebration from LL.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

More wacky celebrations to watch on the Premiershit tonight.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Okay - so that's 2-0? Am I right?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Spot on, floridian. The quality of the commentary and the reception are both excellent.

You have to wonder if Triple L might have made a difference in some of those ugly matches since Bellamy was injured.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

How did LuaLua score? Amazing individual dribble, tap in a rebound?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Leeds 1 down

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

After the game, I am taking my family on a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean. Will miss the Blackburn and West Ham game -- so leave it to you all to see that we get six points!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Very nice Floridian

We'll do our best

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Floridian, hope you have a nice time.

Luax2's goal was great apparently but I don't recall exactly what he did.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

He beat 2 players in the box and slammed it into the bottom right corner then did a triple dipple back flipple !!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Sorry to keep harping on about the webcast, but I can actually hear a bit of the Metro commentary in the background while listening to the Charlton webcast. It's actually clearer there than it is on the Toon webcast.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

PHEW! They score but it's offside.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Yipes...Charlton goal ruled offside. Cmon lads, don't lose concentration!!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Have a great time, Floridian!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Robert and Dyer very subdued

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Hi all - just come in. there's commentary on xfm's website if anyone needs it.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

www.xfm.co.uk

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

It's quite good an' all.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Dabz on for O'Brien

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Helloooo....?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Sounds like Shearer is trying hard for #200!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I'll be your friend, Dan.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Lua has had a blinder apparently. Brilliant news - it'll do his confidence a world of good. If he plays often enough to mesh with the team, he could be an absolute star IMO.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Jenas and Bernard on.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Solano and Robert off.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Jenas on for Nobby. Bernard on for Robert.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Makems 3-0 down

Bernard booked

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Argh....computer crashed. Looks like I haven't missed any goals.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Dyer crocked.

Or maybe not - can't tell with these jokers.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

try xfm pete - see above.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Our physio beat their physio...nah naaaaah nah nah

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

D*MMIT KIELY!!! Saved another Shearer shot! Look, you guys are losing anyway, just let Shearer get his goal! :-)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Shearer denied by Minogue...

So if scores stay as they are we're guaranteed 5th place, needing a point for the CL. Howay!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Blackburn winning today, hopefully it makes them a little less desperate fro a result on Tuesday

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

The Charlton webcast is excellent. I've totally given up on Metro and dot cock. I think they give the Metro blokes a pair of those toy walkie-talkies to broadcast back to the studio with. Then make an arse of the webcast...

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Capt 200

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

SHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEERRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRR 3-0

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

SHEEEEEEAAAAAARERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Thanks for the information on the goal. I'm glad it was the result of a good effort by the lad. Any goal is good - but one that comes as the result of good skill is great for LuaLua.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Brevity is the soul of getting the goal announcement in first, Maier!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

We're BACK!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Excellent, well done Alan. What a fantastic performance. 200 Premier League goals, outstanding

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

GREAT. Glad Shearer got his 200th. Fantastic.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Derby relegated and we only need 1 point for the Champions League

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Being in the other room and seeing it on Sky then having to run back into the room with the pc in....is the soul of getting it in second, Thomas.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Congratulations to Alan Shearer. A remarkable accomplishment.

Accornding to the Charlton commentators - who are excellent, by the way - Lua Lua has had a blinder. Let's find a way to play both him and Bellamy together.

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

FT 3-0

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Are the Yprkshire Puddings still getting beaten?

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

The Charlton/XFM commentary is superb - v. balanced and fair to Noocarssell.

Full time - well done lads!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

One point...for the Champions' League,
one point...for the Champions' League (etc)

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

3-0 FT. Great result, thrilled for Shearer getting 200 and Luaaaaaaaaaaaa scoring at SJP!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

I was amazed at the Charlton announcer screaming as loud as anyone when Shearer scored. HIRE THIS GUY FOR METRO!!!

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

Charlton reckon Shearer and LuaLua played very well together. Is it possible we finally have more than 2 quality strikers?! :-D

-- Anonymous, April 20, 2002

We are not a one player team.

Thank you Luax2 for coming good at the right time. It would be unbelievable to see Bellamy have to fight for his place...!

And Alan Shearer, balls the size of spacehoppers. The man's a legend.
