Setting the self timer on EOS Rebel X

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have a slightly older version of the Canon EOS Rebel X and I'm at college without my manual. I was just wondering how to set the self timer so that I can take pictures without having to push the button etc. I was able to find that it has a 10 second delay but not sure how to make it all work. Thanks,

Anna

Anna,

You activate the self-timer by pressing the little button to the right of the viewfinder housing. It has a little symbol that looks like a timer (or a one-handed clock). Press this button to set the camera to self-timer mode. Pressing the shutter button then starts the 10-second countdown.

Here's a link to the Rebel XS manual that someone scanned in. (The Rebel XS is the same as the Rebel X, except the XS has a pop-up flash.) The self-timer instructions are on page 46 of the manual. This same button is also used to rewind the film before the roll is done. (That's the other symbol that you see next to the timer symbol.) That is covered on page 49.
