I'd read that Liverpool were in the market for a LB as they now see Arne Riese as primarily a left m/f player. However, I'd also read that they were expected to sign Wayne Bridge.

It is entirely within character for Liverpool to have privately 'tapped' Distin and encouraged him not to sign for us. However, you have to question whether Distin would be really interested in signing for Liverpool as either a LB - where he has openly admitted he does not see his future - or as a back up to Hyppia and Henchoz.

My own internal alarm is telling me that PSG are not now satisfied with the agreed transfer fee with the Toon, and are playing cute games to get other Club's interested and in destabilising the situation between SD and NUFC.

Time, as they say, will tell!
