This is exactly what I do, and it works fine.

You will get slightly less on the film than you will see in the 90 box. By the way, the 105 is a good enough lens, but not as good as the Leica 90 Elmarit, especially at wide apertures.

The Nikkor-P 105/2.5 is indeed 1 of the all time great lenses. As the others have pointed out, the 9cm adapter will work fine. In fact, the 90mm frameline is closer to the field of view actually provided by the 105/2.5 @ infinity (close up, you'll have to remember to move in a little).

i have the screw mount 105 nikkor. it is a nice lens, but by no means the equal of the later (70s and onward) 105 2.5 slr lens. they must be totally different formulas because there is a huge disparity in performance. (i have an ai 105 2.5 for my f2.) i prefer to use the 135 frame lines for the 105. i don't like having the framelines show MORE than is going to be on the neg. showing LESS produces fewer probs.

I have a few LTM to M adapters .... All work fine EXCEPT a 9cm. adapter. This doesn't fit in the M6TTL mount, as if the diameter was just a little too large. The Japanese adapters, a new LEICA adapter and an older 35/135 Leitz adapter work fine.

My suspicion is that the 9 cm adapter would work fine on an older M.

BTW, anyone want to buy the 9 cm adapter from me? It is very nice shape, bought at a camera show just this winter for $60.

Look for the front-on portrait; that is at the minimum focusing distance (4ft) with the 9cm adapter and the Nikkor 105. Close enough. The picture is intentionally off center; the point is that as long as a person's face is in the 90mm frameline on an M3, you will be ok.
