Next years team pick comp

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I could russle up a website where we can select our starting 11 each week. It would save one of us having to work it all out manually. The site could automatically generate the league table. Could allow us to view past team picks etc. Thoughts?

I could set it up so you can't see others team picks until after the deadline. If people are keen to go this way, then I'll accept ideas and recommendations...

sounds good Nick, also a section on boot colours may be worth bonus points!

Maybe a handy lookup to check who's currently on the official calendar for that month. 19th April now and we still havn't had a player appear on the calendar and pitch at the same time. This months non-player is Griffin.

I'll even enter it if you manage that.

Sounds Good

Dreadful idea. Geordie's doing a great job. :-)

Excellent idea Nick - go for it.

Geordie has done a terrific job on this for 3 seasons now, I believe, and I know he would welcome a reprieve.

Aad welcome a pint!

Well done Geordie.

Nick, how are you going to find time to do that with your heavy work schedule???

-- Anonymous, April 19, 2002

He is going to do it before he starts work ADK, so when he gets to the office he will have 4 or 5 hours to fill in before he goes to lunch.

Either that or it is a ploy for us to sandbag so he wins this one!

Great idea, nice one

Aye, great, but won't Geordie get bored?....:)

Have you people no sense of tradition? Must we throw away our cherished past on this new-fangled web-site nonsense? Geordie has been compiling the team sheet competition now these many decades (the final table for the 1934 competition is nearing completion even as we speak) and I find it extraordinary that we should seek to reject his services in this heartless manner.

It would break the poor lad's heart were he unable to perform this valuable labour of love for us "week after goddamn week" as I heard him say only the other day. I move that we reject these modern trends and stick with Geordie, lest we lose our heritage.
