Y'all, I just had lunch with my friend Kim and her engagement ring is ginourmous. I literally said, "Oh my god" outloud when I saw it.

And also, for the record, I had nothing to do with these taglines:

Uh-huh. Right. I believe it.

You should actually say that you resigned in protest.

The funniest part is that "two wongs make it white" was the idea of our ONE Asian graphic designer, my friend Brad. He now of course, this is some sort of masterminded genius and that if the Asian community knew it was an Asian who thought of it that they'd be like, Ummmm.... wait. Shit, now what?

Funny in a sort of ironic way of course. Not funny ha-ha look at the offended people.

Understood.

Actually, that's not so surprising now that I think about it.

How are you holding up, T? Any advice to send my way?

What't not so surprising?

That an Asian thought of it.

I mean, a lot of people make fun of themselves and their culture, and don't consider it as offensive as they would if someone else said the same thing.

For example, Sima and I are moving into an apartment complex in Maryland that has a lot of Jewish people, and we make jokes all the time with our (Jewish) friends there about it. But I'd probably be pissed as hell if someone else was saying the same thing, or printing it, if I didn't know they were Jewish.

Does that make any sense? I think I just talked around the issue rather than about it.

No, that makes sense. And, from what I gather on the message boards, people seem to be most upset about the images. And those are clip art. If people really knew how that company was run they'd be more likely to roll their eyes than mount an offensive. It's a bunch of kids sitting around being jag-offs, not plotting world domination via cargo shorts. Sometimes I don't think they (I certainly didn't) realize what an impact and stir something like a tee shirt can make. You don't connect it. I suppose that is ignorance, but it's still true.

Although Hampton Carney (the PR guy) is an idiot and I have NO idea why he is still employed. People in the PR world even know what an idiot he is. Montego could make better comments than him.

I wonder what Lin Chao would say about it all?

Probably "What so funny? Wongs good cleaners."

You know... she's a total weirdo. And now she lives in my hometown and travels to my current town? I don't like it at all.

Gross.
