Sigma 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 APO macro (Macro at 210mm)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Hi, I inherited some lenses a little time ago, an one of these was the Sigma 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 APO macro. I find that I seldom use this one, and want to sell it. The problem is I can't find anything about it anywhere on the net. It doesn't look wery old, but it might not be the newest in that line...

Can anyone help me with a price or some info..?

I also have a Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 (not the new EX model) I want to sell. It looks brand new. What would be a fair price for this one?

Both lenses comes with HOYA HMC skylight filters.

When I want to know the value of a used lens, one of the first things I do is go to ebay.com and do a search for completed auctions of the same product. Ebay prices are sometimes overly inflated for items that are in demand and are sometimes deflated for items that are not.

Checking there just now I found that the original Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 sells for about $150 or maybe a little more. The 70-210 f/3.5-4.5 has closed for anywhere from $70 to $140.

Another option is to go to B&H Photo or KEH and try to find one in their used sections. This is probably a more reliable method of finding a sales value, but it doesn't mean you will find someone to buy it at their price. With Ebay, you know that there *were* 2 people willing to the closing price or near to it.
