sick goat

I've got a two year old dry doe that is acting strange. I noticed several day ago she looked bad. She didn't kid this year so she has not had alot of attention this spring. I wormed her with Valbazen. Yesterday she layed around and when she would get up she would wag her tail like she was in heat, she's a boer x nubian so I wasn't suprised. She's laying around today and I notice her tail was wet and I raised it up and something it wrong, her vulva is swelled out like the size of a large thumb and it just doesn't look like anything I've ever seen. She's black but her skin had a weird color to it. I just don't know what to do I'm even having trouble decribing it.

Update; I've been out with Ella and upon further inspection she has crustie stuff all over the underside of her tail , more than the usual . Her poop is fine all berries. I took her for a walk and she browsed, I gave her a little grain and she eat it right up. I may be overreacting but there is something not right. I gave her a Bcomplex and probios .

Are you saying both sides of her vulva is swollen the size of a thumb, or that she has a thumb size swelling on her vulva? Could you possibly be seeing a hemphrodite? No digital camera for us to see it? Vicki

I think she got bred somehow and is due to kid soon, maybe very soon, like tonight? Just a wild guess; check her out. ;-)

I sure wish I had a digital camara. She does look a little like a goat that has lost her mucous plug with the stuff on her tail but her udder is dry and lifeless. When I said vulva I meant the pointy thing below the opening of the vagina. She had a kid last year. That's what puzzled me her back end looks soft and swollen, no udder , and she doesn't look pregnant. I haven't been outside yet, I'll go check her and report back. If I've got a kid , it'll be my first suprise kid since I've been keeping goats but I know to always expect the unexpected. Thanks

It would be pretty tough for her to be a hemphrodite if she kidded before :) Ha! I haven't any idea what this could be unless perhaps she aborted and then was stung by something? Get back with us and tell us what she is doing! Vicki

Ella is the same. She's laying off by herself and she didn't go up for feed although she did eat out of my hand. She looks sad and weary. Her breathing sounds fine and she has no temp. I'll keep you posted.
