greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Being repaired at the moment and ready in about 4 weeks. I'm having the glass cleaned and balsom marks removed. As I have just got a 28 ASPH I now have no use for the lux. Its a 1966 with original box and lens hood plus leica UV filter.

BEST OFFER GETS IT....

No offer to small...

AWESOME lens isn't it? I am actually considering getting rid of my 35 'Lux ASPH for the same reason!

Cheers,

Oh boy, I've been teetering on the edge thinking about the 28/2 for a nice wide, don't make me do it! The 24 is nice too.

James **grin** don't do it. Don't be tempted by the dark side...my son...."yes I am your father Luke...ah..I mean James".

The force is strong in the 28Asph, but stronger in the 35Asph.

To you lucky souls who own a 28mm Summicron-M: Can you set the aperature to within a tenth of a stop-- all the way to f/16? I can do this with the 75 'lux. But with my 50 Elmar-M, between f/11 & f/16 I can just barely set it to the half stop point. It wants to fall back to either 11 or 16. I also yearn for a 28 'cron!

James, I've also been thinking of the 28 Summicron. Over the past six weeks I've been very tempted to sacrifice my 35 Summilux ASPH for 28 & 50 Summicrons. Not really sure that I want to lose the 1.4 f stop.

I think I'll wait and save some dough for the 24 Elmarit ASPH. Who knows, maybe the 24 Summicron will be released by the time I come up with the cash.

Thanks, Kristian, for the words of advice. The jinns of the dark side are always tempting me.

Luke, don't do it! The 28 Summicron is a wonderful lens, but if I could only keep one Leica lens, it would be the 35 Summilux aspherical. There is magic in this lens. The way it sucks in light and seemingly renders negs with engraved highlights is THE reason to shoot with Leica glass. I'm sure you know all this, owning one yourself, but I had to step in and smack some sense into you. If you want the 28,save your pennies, but hold onto that Summilux.

"Obi-Won was wise to hide the 28Summicron from me." Now the power of the 35Lux force is too strong my lord.

Da da da-da Da da-da da da-da...

Ahhh Star Wars, when the heck is it coming out on DVD? That and Indiana Jones?

No way is my 35 lux going away. Adding a wide angle is a nice temptation though...The force is strong in the 35 lux...flows, surrounds us...you will...you will!

hehehe
