Young players with pace

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I've seen a few targets mentioned for next season, and for the future. I think Bobby seems keen on buying young players with pace. Has anyone seen players in England that fit the bill. I only get to see French players, and there are plenty of fast young players. It depends on whether we want more French players or not.

Far and away the best young prospect in France is Djibril Cisse from Auxerre. He's 20, fast, athletic, skilful, and has scored 17 goals in 26 games this season. Auxerre have only scored 42 all season, so it's not a bad ratio. He has said that he wants to play in England, but not just yet. He thinks he needs another season in France before he'll be ready.

......apparently Houiller is after Cisse for Liverpool, Kiwi. There seems to be an expectation that he will move there in the close season.

I'd heard that Liverpool were after him, but he seems keen to stay in France for another season. It would be a real shame if he went to Liverpool. Think Thierry Henry with the ability to finish, and with more power. It's amazing that he won't be going to the World Cup. Lemerre said that it's too late to try any new players!

Cisse did pretty well in my Championship Manager team (and keep an eye out for his defensive teammates at Auxerre, Jean-Alain Boumsong and Phillipe Mexes) but I've heard numbers up to £30m mentioned for him.
