Today, April 15, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Crescens of Myra (Lycian [Turkish], early martyr by burning)
St. Eutychius of Ferentino (early martyr)
St. Hunna of Alsace ["Holy Washerwoman"] (French, noblewoman, devoted to the poor, d. 679)
Bl. Damien de Veuster [baptized Joseph] ["Leper Priest" "Fr. Damien of Molokai"] (Belgian, priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, missionary in Hawaiian islands, served abandoned lepers of Molokai for final 12 years, died of leprosy in 1885 [beatified 1995])
Bl. Laurentinus Sossius (Italian, boy aged 5 years, martyred in 485)
Sts. Maro, Eutyches, and Victorinus (Roman, martyred [stabbed; hung upside down over a sulphur spring; beheaded] c. 99)
Sts. Maximus and Olympiades (Persian [Iranian], noblemen, martyred [beaten with iron bars] in 251)
St. Mundus of Argyle (Scottish, abbot, c. 962)
Bl. Nidger of Augsburg (German, Benedictine abbot, bishop, c. 829)
St. Padarn of Vannes (French, bishop, c. 500)
St. Ruadan of Lothra (Irish, abbot, d. 584)
St. Silvester of Réome (French, abbot, c. 625)
Sts. Theodore and Pausilipus (martyred in Asia Minor [Turkey] c. 130)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
