Can't play DVDs anymore?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

My Phillips 710 was working fine until I played a VCD in it. The VCD played about halfway through and then quit. Now I can't get DVDs to play in the machine, only VCDs and audio CDs. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Does it specifically say in the player manual or on the package that it CAN play Video CD's? or did you hack it to play it. If you hacked it, I'm afraid thats the chance you take. It's risky performing these hacks, and machines have been known to cease functioning altogether because of it. Whatever the case, you can either take it back to the manufacturer, perform a resetting procedure (most consumer devices have some sort of feature that restores it to its factory defaults), or try and search for a hack that will reverse what you did.
