Really looking forward to the Ireland friendly. Or "full international" as they say on ESPN. The US should win this match 1-2 or 0-2 or better.

How do you reckon, Pete? Ireland played a second string squad at Foxboro a year or so ago and the US still struggled. I am looking forward to the match though. I think it will be a tight game, but Ireland in full flight should still be able to beat the US.

It's too bad I can't take the afternoon off work to watch it live. I'll have to avoid the result until after I get home and watch the tape. argh! :-)

12 of the europe based players will be available for the match. They are really coming together as a team and Landon Donovan is one angry, talented puppy. Against Italy Donovan was nervous and missed a sitter. The Italians onlt won 1-0 on a gift goal, right? In Germany the Germans were better but not as much as they thought. Mexico doesn't even matter anymore. No, I believe the US is finally going to step it up a notch and finally show the world something in WC02. Now Ireland did qualify over Holland but I bet the US beats Ireland and loses to Holland in Foxboro. Is Shay Given still Ireland's keeper?

Given is Ireland's #1. I think Kiely and Kelly(?) are 2nd and 3rd choice, and one or both are injured, so Shay may play on Weds. He didn't play at Foxboro, just sat miserably on the bench in his bright pink rain poncho(silly Irishmen wimped out and asked for ponchos in the monsoon that night..you'd think they'd be used to rain! All the Revs staff had were those cheap neon colored throw-away ponchos. ;-) )

I do think the US will suprise people in the WC. They are capable of getting past the first round, and at very least will give their opponents tough games. I also think they'll give Holland a heck of a match in May. The US is unbeaten at Foxboro, though this match will be at the new CMGI stadium, so we'll see if crowd-power works as well in the new digs. I was hoping to get up there for the game, but the Freedom have a double-header with DC United the night before, so it doesn't look likely.

Ciara, that's what taining camps are all for - to get them into a regime so they can ignore things like torrential rain - otherwise they'd have been oot on the pitch in their wellies planting tatties.

The tatties would have floated away in the monsoon that night! ;-)
