Shearer out for 2 weeks

...according to the report on Sporting Life. Though Bobby's quote is "a couple of weeks". Broken nose, cuts in 3 places and possibly damage to his teeth. Ouch.

Ouch! Don't mind though: they looked alright without him there..;-)

lucky Rob Lee is his pal otherwise it might have been serious

Cort and Lua Lua? Cort and Bellamy? Bellamy and Lua Lua (now that would be interesting! Unlikely, but interesting.)

hey Lua2 and Bellamy with Dyer and Jenas joining from midfield while Robert and Solano feed them form out wide, sounds like heaven on earth to me, all we need are good defenders to back them up, oh yeah

Agree Macbeth, with say Distin LCB, and Bernard LB. BUT, it won't happen. Wish we were assured of a CL place by Southampton so Bobby could try it.

Not bad actually (sorry Al), he could need a little rest and after a couple of weeks we will get a super-Alan for the last two games. If its only injuries to his face he almost practice for full.

I think this could be a blessing in disguise.

As soon as Shearer and Cort came off we couldn't play long balls any more and it forced us to play proper passing football.

We all know Shearer - Cort is never going to work, but we've never seen Cort / Bellamy. They are big pals so they might already have a decent understanding and we might be surprised.

"You pull them Carl and then I'll shove them over..." Sorry, couldn't resist it :-)

Well I know a few of you are pleased to see Shearer out of the teamand I agree that our younger `nippy` players need some decent match playing time. It is heartwarming to see them blossom, hear the fans get behind them and watch their confidence soar. It is essential that we know the skills and strengths of every member of the squad and the true depth of the squad. It is crucial that we have the confidence to know that we can rotate players, and have exciting options and that the crowd will be roaring with enthusiasm whoever is playing.

I also agree that Shearer deserves a break (no pun intended), though I doubt he would want not to be playing. What I think is terrible is to see him sidelined with his face smashed in. I am unrepentantly guilty of total hero worship when it comes to this man, and seeing him stretchered away in such a state was a sad sight indeed. (:o(

Got to agree Galaxy. I'm with you re Shearer. Even my Mam rang me up to register her concern! 'Hope it doesn't ruin his good looks' she said!!!!

I'm not so much pleased to see him injured, in fact he looked in quite a bad state after the collision, his nose was all disjointed as well.

However, I just think we should look on the positive side, Shearer and Cort won't be playing together and it will give a chance to Lua (probably) to show what he can do from the start, something he hasn't been given the chance to do this season. Nearly 40 sub appearances and not a single start is not really good use of the squad.

..the idiots at ITV were banging on about Lx3 having played 34 PL games without scoring before yesterday. The fact that in those 34 games he has probably accumulated about 100 minutes on the field clearly eluded these media geniuses!

In all competitions he has made 51 appearances, 991 minutes, 3 goals and 2 yellow cards.

I ceased to care what ITV said quite a while ago. I suppose they have to say something now Man U aren't going to win the league (probably)

Is Shearer's injury that bad, Galaxy? I haven't seen any pictures or video, and the write-ups I'd read didn't sound that bad. Sounds like he may be out for more than 2 weeks. :-(

I thought it looked really grim - as Clarky said, he was completely unprepared for the collision. Maybe I`m wrong, but I didn`t like the look of it.

I think the FA are going to have to take some serious steps to stop all this football violence. This is the second time in a week that a "best friend" has sidlelined a Premiership player.
