Peter Green in Belgium!

After I posted about Peter Green at the Tyne Theatre last week, believe it or not, he turned up in Belgium last night at a little town about the size of Morpeth about 50 miles from Brussels. We went along and it was good. Wonderful to see him. A little frail, though fairly rotund, and his voice isn't the same any more but the guitar is there - very fluent, especially slide. Played some old favourites Albatross, Man of the World, Need your love so bad, even Green Manalishi which I thought might have too many bad associations for him to play, although no Oh Well which I don't think his voice could cope with, and also some old blues songs by Robert Johnson - where his playing was particularly impressive, Elmore James, Willie Dixon. An evening of nostalgia, shared by about 500 others.
