SF20: Auto vs. TTL

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I use the Leica SF20 flash with my M6 (non-TTL), as well as other cameras. It is the only flash I have which does not tend to overexpose people who are standing against a dark background, or in the dark outdoors with no backrgound. It requires no exposure compensation, and I don't know why, but I love it for this. I am considering a TTL M6 for the convenience of being able to set apertures only once, instead of having to match flash and camera. My question is, do those of you who use the SF20 on an M6 TTL find that it gives the same results as it does on auto settings without TTL? If you use it in TTL mode and take a picture where, for example, a person takes up only 1/3 of the picture area, and the rest is dark, does it expose the person correctly? Thank you for any insights you may have.
