Static attack

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I was browsing some statistics and came up with stats like this (actually, made up stats like this):

Player/goals/% of club's goal/assists/%

Robert 6/9,6%/16/26% Solano 7/11%/8/13% Pires 9/13%/16/24% Beckham 11/13%/8/9,6% Giggs 7/8.4%/14/17%

Cups not included. It WOULD seem that our frog is croaking pretty well. That is, despite his performances.

Let's hope we got some result tomorrow, the game is live on telly also here in Finland. I have not said this before here, so: Good weekend to everyone. Sun is shining and I'll be off to have a beer! I know it's pretty early for pre-match pints but what the heck. Cheers!

It's too late on a Friday to think what those numbers mean...doesn't make any sense to me :-)

I know about Robert having those stats, some people at SJP (especially the large amount of glory seekers that sit around me) think that if he isn't 100% committed all of the time then he is no use to us.

If you take into account the number of goals he's had a big say in it makes him even more valuable.

I know it doesn't need to be explained to those on here really, but I really believe we would be sitting mid table or worse if we didn't have Robert.

Quoting Robert's stats as justification for his existence misses the essential point - that he playing at perhaps 40-50% of his true capability.

Without question the guy is an awesome talent, and if BR had been able to get Robert's stupid head into gear we would have already had the PL sewn up.

I'd be interested in knowing why he played like a house (or chemical plant!) on fire at the start of the season, but hasn't shown anywhere near that form and interest since. Certainly his torn @rse didn't help, but has he been carrying that injury all season? Even at half- pace he's still an asset to us, but if he'd really play all out it would not only benefit us, but make it awfully hard for the French coach to leave him out of the national squad. Hopefully he'll be somewhere closer to 100% next season after having a couple months to rest and be with his family.

ciara - let's hope so, AND that he is still playing for us!

I genuinely believe he is as good as Pires and Henry - in fact he has an interesting combination of their individual skills. However, I really wonder whether he believes it himself.

I sometimes think he has a problem with stamina as after a run he seems to look a bit lethargic and then will wait a bit before doing anything special again.

Bit of a long shot that one though.

another poor display today, hits bar, scores free kick, hits woodwork, pointless having him in the side

He is utter sh*te.

If he's not careful he'll end up with double figures for goals this season, something that Nobby took 5 seasons to achieve.

Or is it 4?
