Our mission statement and the environment

I love our mission statement for it tells us where to go and to do to serve God as the children of Bishop Richard Allen. In the second line of our mission statement it tells us to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed. In my town of Bozeman there is a plan to drill 135 methance coal wells, and in a town 20 miles there is a plan to build several tire-burning facilities. The methane wells will impact on the quality of our water and the burning of tires will impact on air quality. To me taking care of the environment is a spiritual for we are to be good stewards of this planet. These type of incidences are not just happening in rural areas, but also in urban areas, with high emissions from factories, causing lung cancer and other respitory illnesses. What are your thoughts about environmental issues for christians?

"The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof" We are called to be good steward's of our resources. Christians should be actively involved in ecological justice. We have only one planet. We must take care of it as long as we can. Even if it means going against corporate big wigs.
