Anyone out there using the Charlotte Mason Method to homeschool? I have gotton my hands on some literature about this method and am slowly trying to implement it but I could use some help and advice. Anyone care to be a homeschooling mentor in the CM method?

Tiffani,

I've read a good bit about the CM method but have never fully implemented it myself. We tend to mix our methods quite a bit. However, I think it is a great way to go. Especially, in the early years in what Classical Education calls the Grammar Stage.

Have you read any of Susan Schaeffer Macaulay's books? She discusses using the CM method.

Hi Tiffani,

We have used some of the Charlotte Mason ideas during our 19 years of homeschooling. A book that you might find helpful is "A Charlotte Mason Education" A How-To-Manual by Catherine Levison

Hi Tiffani, I have read the Charlotte Mason Home Companion and have used this style for 2 years. I really like the classical reading approach and the boys all love it. I especially like the Geography, "Paddle to the Sea". I have late readers and all of them have responded well to the CM Method. Good luck, If you type Charlotte Mason Method in your browser it brings alot of good info to you. I have a weekly format I go by. The board of Ed. loves it when they come to visit. Karole

Hi Tiffani,

I home school two of our son and am finishing up our third year. I was miserable with hsing in the middle of our first year and realized it was because I was trying so hard to make it just like school. I took some time to research different methods and philosophies of education and today I say that finding out about Charlotte Mason saved our hs.

You can feel free to email me and ask me specific questions if you like. For now I will share with you some reference sites and some message boards that I find useful.
