What a depressing illustration of the hold of money on football. This willfull misunderstanding of what the fans were protesting about is pathetic. They don't want it to be known as "The Wankers Stadium" any more than they did "The Wankers Bowl". Any chance for Sunderland to change the name of their ground now?-------------------------
Leicester City have decided against calling their new ground The Walkers Bowl and have instead named it The Walkers Stadium.
The club met for discussions with the company after the original name was given a cool reception by fans.
Walkers are sponsoring the 32,000-seat stadium in a 10-year deal.
Martin Glenn, Walkers chief executive, said: "We pride ourselves as a business on listening to what our consumers want.
"We have had long discussions with the club and agree that we will drop bowl from the name of the stadium and it will now be known as The Walkers Stadium."

Sporting Life's explanation was that the supporters thought 'Bowl' sounded too American. Somebody, somewhere missed the point. ;-)

Sometimes a sponsor's name doesn't look too bad...Reebok Stadium in Bolton isn't the worst name in the world, and least Reebok have some street cred. Naming a stadium after a packet of crisps, but...What would happen if other teams' sponsors added their names to football grounds?

"Pint of Strongbow and a Glass of White Wine for the Lady Elland Road "Nice one :)
I always thought they went one step too far naming a stand the "Lurpak Stand"

Just a way to butter up the fans. Spreads the cost of the maintenance I'm sure. I'm sure Leeds are milking the sponsors. Dairy say Leeds will continue to expand this policy?Penelope Keith never had to wait this long for a cab...
