Which of Poe's short stories have been made into movies?

Most of the gothic tales, the detective stories except perhaps not the Purloined letter or marie Roget although the plots have been reused by other writers. Not Pym, not the comedy pieces. People prefer Verne for the balloon stories. Not the symbolic stories unless it's some artsy Eurpoean film or animation. There is a website that tries to list Poe on film but I cannot recall it or how complete it is.

Well, I'll start by mentioning the classic films of Vincent Price which loosely used Poe's ideas beginning with "The Fall Of The House Of Usher." Most strayed far from Poe's tale, but some were fun to watch and director Roger Corman infused the idea of premature burial in most of them.

Most strayed far from Poe's tale, but some were fun to watch and director Roger Corman infused the idea of premature burial in most of them. Other Price-Poe films include "The Raven," "The Pit and the Pendulum," "The Tomb Of Ligiea," and "Tales of Terror" which included Peter Lorre in "The Black Cat," "Morella," and a great adaptation of "M. Valdemar."

Italian horror legend director Dario Argento and American zombie director George Romero collaborated on "Due occhi diabolici" ("Two Evil Eyes." That film adapted "The Black Cat" and "M. Valdemar."

Those are the films that come to mind. There was a Simpsons Halloween episode I remember where they did "The Raven."

Go to www.imdb.com and search on Edgar Allan Poe. There are lots of films/shows you can research there.

My personal favorite is Vincent Price's "The Pit and The Pendulum" as well as the "M. Valdemar" segment in Price's "Tales of Terror."
