Both preferred short lyrical poetry. Poe was more literate, more dark romantic. Dickinson wrote more constricted and personally autobiographical material, shorter but more poetry than Poe. If uyyou lay up a poem side by side, say on death and immortality you will see a great difference in theme and style but beyond that Dickinson seems more an advance away from the English Romantic forms and ideas to a more existential spare simplicity.

I don't know who this other guy answering this question thinks he is, but THERE ARE NO "USELESS" QUESTIONS. And also, I agree with the other guy that gave the answer about them being very different, there are a lot of things that you could point out about their contrasts, but in comparison, there are very few things to bring up. Sorry.
