How good quality is the low-end Leica/Minox DC 2111 camera?

We have a high-end Leica Digilux 1/Panasonic Lumix cameras coming up but I was wondering whether the Leica/Minox budget DC 2111 camera. I look at the 2.1 megapixel for 140 dollars and think that's a good deal.

Is the Leica/Minox DC 2111 camera any good? Worth using for making reasonably sized prints? Information is at: http://www.tamarkin.com/catalog/products/minox/minox.html.

A friend of mine bought one of these and sent me some snaps from it. I think they look pretty darn good for $140. 2.1 Mpixel should be good for about a 5x7 and occasionally an 8x10 size print, with a little image processing massaging it.

It's certainly not good enough for Alfie cos' it cannot produce fuzzy pictures!

I just got one 2 months ago for my son, for the same reasons you stated. He just got the camera last week, I had alot of fun with it and the pictures came out very nice. The only thing I was not happy with was the flash exposures, some of them were just too bright.

But for the price I don't think you can beat it. wbill
