How I fixed a mecanical focusing problem on a 50´luxM

Few weeks ago I had the oportunity to buy a very wear 50 ´ lux M, the lens cosmeticaly was pretty ugly, but glass was pristine, a perfect lens for me, at a very cheap price.

The only misfunction that I noticed was a not so free movement of f/stop ring at near f/16, and the same with focusing ring move near infinity at f/16 only, latter discover that in a warm enviroment the problem increased, not in an air conditioned room, but out side in the tropical weather where I live, to the point that doing a focusing move could move the f/# ring too, after looking cerefuly I saw that the focusing barrel was bended and it made the two rings touch each other at a point, there was a real problem, thougth in sending lens back, but I knew I will never find this lens for that price, so decided to fix it, there must be a way, I unscrew optical part from focusing barrel, after finding where the point of problem was, then with a plastic stick I begun to push from inside the focusing ring edge, following it´s roundness, trying to bend it very sligthly, I had to put lens parts together few times until work was done, now it moves as a regular leica lens, and print tests shows that lens focuses rigth from center to corner, I share this in case any of you have a similar problem.

Regards
