JJ or Speed? Cort or Bellamy?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I think BR will keep the same team tonight.

Given
Hughes Dabs O'Brien Distin
Solano JJ Dyer Robert
Cort Shearer

Harper, Speed, Elliot/Bernard, LLL, Bellamy.

Anybody agree with me that this is 100% NUFC's strongest squad, the best we have. Full strenght for the first time this season.

Hope you're right and JJ is preferred to Speed. In all his years with us Speed has never created a goal like the kid laid on for Solano v Everton. In fact does anyone remember a killer pass from Speed ever?

No need rushing Speed back, give him 20 minutes or something. Bellamy hasnt even begun full training yet so he shouldnt play at all.

I remember a pass I could've killed Speed for! And for missing the ball quite spectacularly against Everton (the Serrant penalty game).

I hope we keep Speed for at least another season. Jenas looks promising, but we still need some depth in midfield.

Although Dyer/Jenas is an exciting prospect for the future. In recent games they haven't impressed me too much as a pair. We haven't looked the same in the middle without Speed.

In an ideal world CB & JJ would get my vote. I would even play LLL ahead of Cort if CB wasn't fit. I aint the manager though.

Bellamy isn't fit - Ratz!

Id play both speedy and JJ and YKD in a 5 man midfield with all of them given license to get up and support Baaldy Al

We struggle to win the ball with YKD and JJ on their own given the lack of work of Robert

Bellers as a sub to create/score the 5th and 6th;-)

my 2p

Possibly Jonboyu. I'd like to see Speed and Jenas in midfield, with Dyer having a free role, using his pace to get into the areas Bellamy gets into, whilst also playing deeper - ie giving the defenders something to worry about.

Isnt hindsight a wondefull thing , what do you think of speed now???

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2002

Perhaps the mistake was playing Speed and Dyer, both recently recovered from injury, as the midfield engine room. With the benefit of hindsight and foresight, I would still opt for Jenas and Speed, with Dyer left free to use his pace where it hurts, and Cort on the bench.
