Who can we pick up from the relegated teams:

Hingingbotton (sp) from Derby? I noted that Lee & Barton got a slating from Derby fans on Saturday.

Bramble from Ipswich

anyone else?

Jody Craddock? ;o{)

Malcolm Christie?

Marcus Stewart, Matt Holland?

The following players are my suggestions:

Izzet Hriedarsson Christie Matt Holland M. Stewart

I think these players good, but i'm not sure they would make our squad very much stronger. I think Hreidarsson could do a solid job on the left- back slot though....

No, no please not Matt Holland (IMO :) )

Do we really want a 30 year old average player? We may as well keep Speed for the price that Ipswich would want for Holland. He'd be canny as a squad player, but so would Speed, and he won't cost us anything.

Marcus Stewart possibly, but I don't see him being first choice. Jody Craddock would be a great signing, Higginbotham is a canny player but I haven't seen him enough to really comment honestly on him.

Chris Riggot of Derby is also said to have a big future ahead, although again I haven't really seen enough to have a real opinion on him.

Titus Bramble is a pretty good player and will only get better, but I personally don't think he is worth anywhere near the £12m that was reportedly wanted by ITFC.

I don't think Leicester have any players that we would really want to buy to be honest. Izzet is too lightweight for me and doesn't make up for it with other abilites like Dyer does. Again he would cost a fortune (Acuna is great value at £1m in that respect). Savage is apparently admired by BR, but he is nothing more than a whinging git in my eyes. He lacks real skill and tries to make up for it with aggression - somehow I have the feeling he would be loved by Newcastle fans in general because of this (not necessarily me)

It is perhaps a tad harsh to judge any Leicester midfielders on this season alone, as they have largely played a long ball game, bypassing the midfield.

To be honest, I'd rather by paying De Boer £3m a year than paying £12m outright for Bramble.

Barton? Lee?

-- Anonymous, April 07, 2002

Malcolm Christie, forgot about him...

He's pretty quick, good finisher and works hard after coming from non- league football where hard work and commitment is a major thing.

Could turn out to be a great player, and at least if we have a striker go off form then he can be brought in to put pressure on them.

Out of all of them, he seems to most attractive buy, as he's still fairly young and has proved himself in big games.

Christie is still in the U-21's, has genuine pace, is a decent finisher, and works his socks off. IMO, he'd be a good signing - however, I fancy Bobby has his sights set even higher.

The word is that there are some really top Bosman signings around this summer. Other than Frank De Boer, I dont know who they all are, but we could go after one or two of these more experienced players if we qualify for the CL.

Anyone know who all the Bosmans are - this was Tre's province.

PS: this bbs is behaving peculiarly - it could be about to go t*ts up again!

Is there an echo in here Clarky? :)

And yes the BBS is behaving strangely, going from super quick to slow as sh*t in the space of a minute.

Not really vulture like, but Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Inter, and with him knowing BR already there could be something in that one (I hope)

Despite all his injury problems he is easily one of the top 3 strikers in the world when fit. (When fit being the big thing there)

Only seen Higginbottom once and on that occasion he was a really class act. Can't recall if he was up against much, however....phoenix

I must admit I've only seen Hingingbotton once against us but looked very good.

I worry that Bobby may fancy Savage, I think he would be a good buy for any of the two promoted sides (after Man City) he's better than he's given credit for but not good enough for us, Leicester fans love him & may well stay at City.

Matt Holland is only 28 and he is not average. He would be perfect for our midfield - add a bit of experience.

Here's a list of Bosman players for 2002. I got rid of lower divisions players as we would probably not be interested. Couple of names stand out and our former Dane Tomasson is also in the list.

Guess I made a mess with the formatting.

Juninio. Porbosky. JDT.

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2002

Here we are looking at who we should get, but we are letting Rob Lee slip through our fingers, he should be given a contract to keep him with us!!

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2002

Effenberg is terrific. Okacha used to be great but haven`t seen him play since he went to PSG.

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2002

Doesn't look that great a list to me.

Of probable interest to the mackems - Urzaiz (Athletico Bilboa) and Ali Daei (Hertha Berlin)

Of possible interest (again) to BR - Helder and Nikiforov (PSV); neither of who I feel we should consider.

Other outside possibilities - Jay- Jay Okacha (PSG)?

Final thought - not JDT, please: he's not a bad player, but isn't good enough for a top PL Club.

Could Matt Elliott help our defensive dilemmas?

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2002

Seems doubtful Logan at this point in his career. A couple of seasons ago I thought he was the dogs danglies, but he's now well over 30, and the times I've him on telly this season he seems to have become very lumbering. "Too late, they cried!"

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2002

Redknapp? If he could lose the injury problem. Send his wife oon a world tour perhaps. JDT could be a possible despite what others might think. This is a slightly different team with an entiely differetn style and a new manger. It could work.

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2002

Know what you mean Clarky, but i think he's been trying to shore up a lost cause. 30-odd is OK for a central defender so long as he's not knackered. He'd be cheap, maybe even nominal, and I can just seem him and Distin for a season or so...

jj okocha without a doubt, also paulo sergio from bayern is beyond class!
