can dogs get lymes disease and what do i look for?

couple of queations.. 1 what happened to the poodle parlor????? and my poodle pup just got a tick bite. what do i look for in regards to lymes disease? do they get it??? stori

They surely can and you can get LD from ticks they bring in on their body. I keep a damp towel and wipe my dog down each time it comes in. After rain, you are pretty safe they won't have gotten them, like fleas. I have had Lyme, which might have come from my shepherd. For quite a few years now, there is a yearly vaccine that works well on dogs, which mine get. A blood test, such as the Western Block should give you the info you need to see if your dog has Lyme Disease. If so, I would guess they would be given a course of antibiotics such as doxcyollin (sp? the drug of choice or was), for 4-6 weeks.
