Ilford 'New' Delta 400 in 4x5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Hello folks,

Don't get too excited, the heading of this post is not a declaration but a suggestion.

I am a great fan of Delta 100 in 4x5 and would love the opportunity to match the 'Delta Feel' in lower light, or with heavy filtration, by being able to use Delta 400 as was possible in the past.

Since there are so many favourable comments on various forums about New Delta 400 is there sufficient interest to put together a petition and send it to Ilford?

I realise that $0.20¢ in Australian currency isn't worth a lot of $US these days but I put my $0.20¢ in all the same.

I love Delta 100, too. But I think Delta 400 is even better. If Delta 400 were available in 4x5, it would be the only film I'd use, except for Acros for long exposure work.

This question has come up on the Iford site as well, and if i remember correctly someone from the company indicated that the start up cost made it an unlikely option. I will double check tomorrow and see if i can find the exact wordage on the thread.

Well, if Ilford has decided that it is too expensive to bother offering Delta 400 in sheets, they may well see the light when Fuji ups the ante and offers Acros 400. It hasn't happened yet, of course, but I think it's only a matter of time.

If Ilford intends to rest on its laurels, smug in its security that it already has a great 400 film in LF, they'd better keep thier collective eyes on the ball, because Fuji is relentless ... just ask Kodak.

I would like to have new Delta 400 film in 4X5. I used the old D400 and liked it a -lot- better than TMax 400. I still have one box. I could see using new Delta 400 4X5 to the exclusion of anything else.

While I am not holding my breath, I have forwarded all comments to the appropriate people at ILFORD. Thank you for the interest.
