Read that celery crisping post, I wonder if celery would put out roots if you stuck it in garden. I think I will try just for the heck of it. And also every year I buy 4 nice sweet potatoes, and I plant in hanging basket. and put on porch or hang in tree, and you have the most pretty vines, and everyone wonders what it is.

Irene sounds like a good idea on the sweet potatoes, would you quarter them and put in soil or whole? I've grown celery before and it comes out great. Got it as a small plant. We have a root cellar never tryed to keep celery but it keeps several other things from the garden great. Good Luck keep use posted on how it's doing. Brenda The Farm

Brenda, the way I always grew sweet potatoes was by putting the whole potato in a jar of water with top portion out of the water. Used toothpicks stuck in sides to support. It will grow massive roots and the trailing vine is beautiful.
