Surplus and Discount Foods

I live near a warehouse in Hudsonville, MI which is between Grand Rapids and Holland. These are the people that put on the food auctions in MI and northern IN. Besides the auctions, they sell to other stores that sell foods that are near expiration or from stores that have gone out of business, however, any individual is welcome to shop there. Not all the food is expired and I have gotten some very good name brands like a person would find in a health food store including organic soup which was very good. They have a large walk in freezer for their meats, baked goods etc. including cheesecake from a well known factory in Chicago and Sara Lee cinnamon rolls, however the stock can change quickly and you never know what you may find because it just depends on what happens to come in. If anyone lives within driving distance and would like to know more about the place, you may e-mail me.

...would be interested to know if anyone knows of any places like that in the Southeast Missouri region! I would love to be able to find a place like that, but with gas prices on the way up, it would not be worth it to drive very far, as I do not have a 'great' gas consumpter!! Thanks!

Hello Deb,

Are you near Thayer? Thats right at the Arkansas line. There is a salvage grocery store there. The next nearest one that I know of is in Mansfield.

Sincerely,

ERnest

There is one in Mena , Arkansas also. called Penny pinchers or somthing like that. I would like to know of one in the Indianapolis , Indiana area.... That would save me a few bucks.... Although I usually never purchase pre-packaged foods, I know how much it costs for me to make it and will buy ppf if its cheaper than homeade AND I am in need of convience ( ie... surgery, funerals, deadlines, ect....)
