Today, April 5, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Vincent Ferrer (Spanish, Dominican priest, teacher of theology, advisor to king and pope, missionary to at least eight nations, had true gift of tongues, miracle-worker, died in France in 1419)
St. Albert of Montecorvino (French, bishop in Italy, d. 1127)
Bl. Antony Fuster ["Angel of Peace"], Bl. Blaise of Auvergne, and Bl. Peter Cerdan (disciples of St. Vincent Ferrer, 14th century)
St. Becan of Kill-Beggan (Irish, abboth, 6th century)
St. Derfel Gadarn (Welsh, soldier, abbot?, 5th or 6th century)
St. Ethelburga of Lyminge (English, princess, widow, Benedictine abbess, c. 647)
St. Gerald of Sauve-Majeure (French, Benedictine abbot, d. 1095)
St. Irene (Macedonian, virgin, martyred in 304)
Bl. Juliana of Mount Cornillon (Belgian, orphan, Augustinian prioress, d. 1258)
Holy Martyrs of Lesbos (Greek, virgins, early martyrs)
Holy Martyrs of Africa (martyred by Arian Vandals during Easter Sunday Mass in 459)
St. Maria Crescentia Höss [baptized Anna] (Bavarian, superior of Franciscan Regular Tertiaries, mystic, d. 1744 [canonized 2001])
Sts. Probus and Grace (Welsh, husband and wife)
Bl. Sighardus of Bonlieu (French, Cistercian abbot, d. 1162)
St. Zeno (early martyr by burning)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

Today I pray for your holy intercession Saint Vincent Ferrer, and even though you had the gift of tongues I'll do this in your first- language.

Cristian.
