Anybody Like Peter, Paul, and Mary ?(folk singers)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I have a CD bu them, and love to watch their specials on PBS. I hope to find some more of their music when I have some extra money (like there is any such thing!) Today we were working around the house and this song came on that I really love!! "Inch by inch, row by row, we're gonna make this garden grow. All it takes is a rake and a hoe, and a piece of fertile ground..."

I tell you it made me want to plant RIGHT NOW!! What a wonderful miracle to plant a seed and watch it grow. What a wonderful gift to grow your own food, to particiapte in the wonder of life. Just do it inch by inch. did you ever just sit and look at the dirt? Crumpled it in your hands, and smell it's fresh sweet smell? Just enjoy the wonder of the EARTH. It just makes me so happy that I live in the country, after all, all you need is a rake and a hoe... Happy Gardening to all, my friends...

Melissa -- I love them too. And John Denver -- and Joan Baez...there is so much wonderful music out there that I've taken to downloading it off the internet -- otherwise I'd be broke very quickly!!!

I too am old enough to remember when they first started out. Went to see them in concert several times. Fabulous!

Puff the Magic Dragon was a magical song for me, and my children later memorized it as well from all the albums we had (still have!!!) Now grandchildren are learning it too - ain't it grand?

The music is lyrical and the language is acceptable. How many groups today can say that?

Wishing You a Day in His Grace

I too love Peter, Paul and Mary and am old enough to remember when they first started. I went to one of their concerts 4 or 5 years ago and they were as good as ever BUT they got old. LOL I was also young and naieve (sp) enough way back when Puff the Magic Dragon was popular and had no idea there was a bad connotation to it. That's ok though as I still ignore that it might be bad and just enjoy it for the pleasant song it is. They are so good!

My very first concert ever was to see PP&M. I was 15, the tickets (fourth row, center) were $10. I saved every penny I could get my hands on to pay for the tickets. (Mom had said if I wanted to go bad enough then I'd find a way to pay for the tickets). A friend of mine convienced her mother to take us. What a wonderful experience!! I have been a huge fan since the early 60s. Even used to iron my hair to look like Mary's and finally did learn to play "Puff" on the guitar. Thanks for the memory re-fresher.

Wishing you enough.

PPM was the first concert I ever attended - I was 14, and this was in the late 1980s. They were the first album my mother ever bought, when she was a kid. Now my 2 year old loves _Peter Paul and Mommy_.

In case you're interested, there are a number of PPM items on ebay, including a neat autographed album at a very low price, compared to their other signed items. The auction ends on 10/19 or so ...

Here's the link to it: http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=724354035
