A new twist on the old terrace taunt... SEOUL (Reuters) - Thousands of South Koreans have volunteered for jobs at the World Cup finals including special squads to cheer on the 32 teams taking part, according to organisers.

The 10 host cities of South Korea, which is co-hosting the tournament with Japan, have recruited nearly 55,000 volunteers to help outside the stadia and 16,000 to work inside.

A group of "Korea Supporters" organised by the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs will also cheer every national team during matches.

Forty-five cheering squads, each with 500 to 1,000 volunteers, will support the participating countries, the ministry said.

...Rumours that Boro have expressed an interest in hiring the singing fans remain without foundation...
