A "timely" quilt tip

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

So many of us are really busy and don't have big chuncks of time to do machine pieceing-try having something allways cut and prepared and ready to go by your machine so if you just have a few minutes, you'll be able to accomplish something. My sewing room is in the basement, but sometimes I have a minent or two upstairs to work-maybe while waiting on the phone! I bought a duplicate set of hand tools-small scissors, needles, thread, thimble, seam ripper, that I keep upstairs in a basket of handwork for those odd minents and I don't have to run up and down the stairs for tools. If I'm making blocks, on the machine and one has too be taken apart, I'll go to the next one and save that block for "phone time".

Kelly, that is a great idea, but, you are cheating yourself on physical activity for the day. Climbing stairs is excellent exercise and a way to squeeze it in during the day!!LOL!! Look who is talking, I have stairs too but once down don't bother going back up until bedtime!! I do walk the treadmill during the day.

I have my "nest" in the family room with all the goodies for crochet, sewing, etc. Family room is one end of house and sewing room the other.

Marie-Thanks for the exercising tip-but you see, the laundry room is in the basement and the kids rooms are on a second story over the first-we have two sets of stairs, so I manage to go up and down quite a bit! I also have a "nest" where I have my handwork tools and a couple of projects going-I love it!
