Today, April 4, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Isidore of Seville ["Schoolmaster of the Middle Ages"] (Spanish, brother of three saints, hermit, archbishop, writer of encyclopedia, Doctor of the Church, d. 636)
Sts. Agathopus and Theodulus (Greek, deacon and lector, martyred by drowning in 303)
Bl. Aleth of Dijon (French, mother of St. Bernard, widow, d. 1105)
St. Benedict the "Black" (Italian, son of freed slaves, Franciscan superior, cook, d. 1589 [incorruptible])
Bl. Gaetano Catanoso (Italian, parish priest, founder of Congregation of the Daughters of St. Veronica [Missionaries of the Holy Face], d. 1958 [beatified 1998])
St. Gwerir of Liskeard (English, hermit, 9th century)
Bl. Henry of Gheest (Belgian, Cistercian monk, c. 1190)
St. Hildebert of Ghent (Belgian, Benedictine abbot, martyred by iconoclasts in 752)
St. Peter of Poitiers (French, bishop, d. 1115)
St. Plato of Sakkudion (Constantinopolitan [Turkish], orphan, abbot, d. 813)
St. Tigernach of Clogher (Irish, godson of St. Brigid, abbot, bishop, d. 549)
St. Zosimus (Palestinian, hermit, 5th century)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
