A friend of mine may have recieved keys to the City of San Fransico in the early 1950s (1953?) I would like to confirm this, so if it is not the right city, i can move my search onward. Does anyone know of any resources I can consult to find this information?

If you are in San Francisco, you can go to the Main Public Library and look up your friend's name on the newspaper microfilm index. The local press certainly would have covered that kind of award.
