Above Board Switch Control

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

I have found the information about switch machines and switch control very useful but I have an unusual problem. I cannot intall the slow motion motors under my layout. All mechanisms have to be hidden somewhere on top. All the accessory decoders I have seen (I planned on using the CVP-AD4)will not control "solenoid" switchmachines. Is there any switchmotor that can go on top of the layout AND hooked to an accessory decoder?

Keil,

I suggest you read the CVP page more carefully. The CVP AD4H will drive solenoid machines. Also, the Digitrax DS54 will drive solenoid switch machines. Laurence Barker's DAC10 (http://www.zebedee7.demon.co.uk/dcc/dac10.htm) will drive solenoid switch machines. There are probably others.

Dale.

Thanks Dale, you're right, I missed that. Does this mean I can use it with Atlas #851? Do I need a seperate AC power supply? What is a good source for this kind of information? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks Keil
