Peter Green at Newcastle Opera House tonight

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I spotted in the Journal from a few days ago that the great Peter Green, as was, is at Newcastle Opera House down on Westgate Road tonight. Anyone who can remember 1968-70 and the masterful "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" (i.e. the real FM before he went a bit loony and left it to Stevie Nicks, Buckingham etc) should go down and see how he is doing. Oh Well, Green Manalishi, Man of the World, I need your love so bad, Albatross, .... Probably could be a bit of a disappointment after 30 years, but if I were in Newcastle tonight I'd be there. They seem to have loads of oldies at the Opera House - Roger Chapman out of Family, Lindisfarne etc - sounds just my style.

I saw Family at the City Hall many moons ago. They were in a charity do along with the Gun and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band + local junco Partners. They were awesome.

Damn! If I'd been in Toon, I'd have gone along :-(

I'm pretty sure I saw that same show Josh at the City Hall. I recall The Gun and Bonzo Dog anyway. Circa 1968 I imagine. I'm surprised I didn't see you.

Jonno - Bonzos were top of the bill so had to finish - Gun threw their toys out of the pram when they were asked to go 1st so Famiy opened, and then the local group. Gun came on after the break - it took about 20 minutes to get their drum kitoff the stage as the idiots had nailed it down with 6 inch nails.

Bonzos were incredible. I believe Johnny Walker compered the gig.
